Lc Beats & and the MCs from the M-Phazes good gracious tour

by Lc Beats on Aug.28, 2010, under Hip Hop Stuff

M-Phazes_TourFlyer_Front

I saw the M-Phazes show in Sydney at Annandale Hotel on Thursday night. I had a great time. I thought it was a good concept that M-Phazes got each of the rappers to perform their track off his album Good Gracious. Each of the artists only did one track which was different to them doing a whole set. I was expecting to see them perform more tracks but I think the rotation of rappers worked well.

During acts the Amber Liquid Squids started up a cypher outside, we started in a little circle kicking rhymes amongst ourselves, but the circle became bigger and people rushed in to listen.

JackHamma & Mc Texta kicked some dope freestyle freshness. Mr Speaker kicked a few frees aswell.

The next day I got to film Shantan’s interview with the artists from the tour for the JJJ Hip Hop show. Shantan is filling in for Hau at the moment. I got to meet the artists and & I gave them copies of Kaos in King Street. The artists that turned up were Mase & Mattic, Mantra, Muph, Nine High, Illy, M-Phazes & Dj Flagrant.

I got a crew photo with the artists after the interview.

NSW Beatbox Championships

by Lc Beats on Jun.03, 2010, under Lc Beats beatbox video, Video, press exposure

On Sunday 18th April I entered the NSW Beatbox Championships. As promotion several beatboxers were asked to meet for a photoshoot. When I got to the location it was only me and another beatboxer called LemonCheese. We had a quick beatbox together.

mX took a photograph of us jumping towards the camera. This was the second time being in mX magazine.

The event was held at Fairfield showground, not an area I know well. The competition was judged by Joel Turner & Hopey.

There were a series of stages in which you had to pass to get through to the next round.

The first stage was a 1 minute solo round.

Backing an MC round, where we had to beatbox for a rapper. I brought along my mate Mc Texta.

I made it though to the quarter finals I had to verse Pneumatic.

In the semi finals I lost to Genesis. I was pretty pissed off. He had the crowd on his side but did to many covers and singing.
He ended up winning the competition.

‘Kaos in King Street’ CLAYMATION Film

by Lc Beats on Jun.02, 2010, under Claymation

Kaos in King Street

Kaos in King St, following Mayhem in May Lane (2008), is a claymation stop-motion film depicting the impact of the recently legislated anti-graffiti laws whilst drawing attention to potential consequences.

In production for 12 months the 20 minute stop motion film features caricatures of pioneering Sydney graffiti artists Teazer, Pnash, Phibs and Mistery – with signature works from these artists, individually reproduced on a small scale.

“I’ve never done anything like this before,” Phibs said. “The whole process and the way it is put together is incredible. Seeing the finished result is very satisfying.”

Scenes are set in real-to-life scaled models of the facades and streets of Newtown.

I wanted the small scale sets to mirror the actual streets of Newtown so I invited the artists to create their signature work on a small scale.

Kaos in King Street received sponsorship from 567 King Graffiti Art supply store in Newtown and Australian aerosol paint company Ironlak.

For more information visit the Kaos in King Street BLOG or join the official FACEBOOK group

The film is available on DVD online from HERE or in the following shops 567 King (567 King Street Newtown), Lopez Records (70 Oxford Street Darlinghurst) & Westsyde Connection (441 Canterbury Rd Duwlich Hill)
